Building Your Own Website,
page 2, hosting
(go back)
Doteasy:
Once done with your website building, make good use
of this free
resource! This is a very reliable hosting company with excellent
email support and they offer paid as well as free accounts. The reason
I'm mentioning them is because their free hosting is an
outstanding deal. Unlike most free providers, you don't get any
banner ads or pop-ups with their free service.
It can be
used for so many things, such as: Hosting your sales pages,
redirect pages or any other web page that you don't want hosted
at your main website.
Truly rare and uncommon value!
Disclaimer: If you are setting up your Main Business Website,
don't use their free service because it won't include any of the
scripting support you'll need. On the other hand, the free
service is very desirable to host any of your websites that
don't need scripting support, such as personal sites or a
satellite website where the sales link points back to your
main business website.
Lunarpages:
This hosting provider has an excellent track record and a very
good reputation for customer service. You hardly ever hear a
complaint about them. They offer a 30 day money back guarantee.
Speedy response from their technical department for all your
needs. They also own their own backbone datacenter as opposed to
some other hosting providers; great hosting for your
first website building adventure!

You will find some
awesome freebies
for websites / webmasters here, such as: free HTML
templates, ebooks, webmaster tools, buttons, dividers, plus many
more freebies. J. Walfield, Webmaster of
Freebiesforwebsites, has contributed an article about starting
your own Membership Site,
located in the Articles section. Be sure to read it!
SoMuch.com, place your
website
in this directory and gain extra exposure! Why? Because you can
never have too much!
Network-Room Links,
join this Directory and get relevant exposure!
Learnem.com, get your free
html course "Web Design in 7Days."
They also sell many other type of tutorials. Scroll down to the
bottom of the page and you'll see the free course.
W3Schools,
sometimes the best things in life are free. An excellent
resource for anything to do with website building. Well written
high quality manuals for beginners as well as advanced studies.
We're talking about high quality instruction! I'm personally
awed by this incredible resource for website building! Why they don't charge for this, I don't know. Get it
while it's still free!
HTML Goodies,
Another great place to get all kinds of tutorials about building
your website. Very well written and easy to understand. Covers
many topics only found in the advanced paid HTML manuals. Look at the
site and you'll agree!
HTML Editors:
There are two editors that mostly dominate the market: MS Office
Front Page
and Macromedia's Dreamweaver.
They are both first class html editors. The preference seems to
be a matter of personal taste and familiarity; you can't go
wrong with either when building your site!
I use Front Page because it came bundled with my MS Office Suite
however, I've heard nothing but good things about Dreamweaver.
The ease of use of both the above editors is one of their
strongest points. They can do so many things, a true bargain for
the money.
Should you need a free or time limited demo to get started, go
to Download.com and get one
of the free or demo editors.
CoffeeCup HTML Editor
is a good choice for beginners. Though lacking some of the
refinements of the full fledged editors above, it's still a good
compromise on features VS cost. A real bargain for designing
your first website!
Scripts:
If you are serious about website building for business,
you will need a script or two. Scripts are small snippets of
code that do specific functions on your website. For example,
you can have a script execute when a visitor comes to your
website for the first time
and offer a free email course for
signing up for your Newsletter.
Scripts come in many forms,
the ones most widely used for website building are Javascript
and CGI scripts. There are many free script websites that will
give you the code to install while building your site. The important thing to remember is to make
sure your hosting provider offers scripting support.
There is solid evidence that if you have good scripting at your
website, you will capture more customers for your mailing lists.
The previous stands to reason; you should take every opportunity
available to gather all the information you can within the brief
moments your customer is at your website. Make sure you have
scripting
support before you start building!
